It’s 2017 in Lake Elsinore, CA and I’m slumped behind the wheel of my car with the A/C blasting after another day of knocking 100+ doors in the heat of the summer.
My water bottle is empty, my iPad is dead and I have nothing to show for the last 10 hours of rejection but a couple of shaky leads and a no-show appointment…
I thought selling solar was supposed to change my life… so why does it feel like it’s breaking me instead?

Back when I thought knocking in a utility vest was a good idea (2017)
If you’re on this page, chances are you’ve felt what I felt.
And maybe you’re even feeling it right now…
You’re tired of faking the “all in” attitude when deep down you’re drained — stuck knocking doors even though you’ve got the skills to close, but no consistent pipeline to back you up.
You’re done with the Temu “Wolf of Wall Street” energy at correlation — filled with empty hype to cover the truth that D2D has become an outdated (and many times) predatory model that burns reps out.
If that’s the case, I can help.
I’ll share how I developed what I now call "SolarCopilot OS" — a simple 4-step system that pulled me out of the D2D grind and into closing $429k+ in solar commissions online in 10 weeks… without knocking a single door.
If you could copy-and-paste this exact system for yourself, how different would your pipeline (and your sanity) be?

Scrolling through the deals we closed from our online blitz
But I know you’re probably thinking: “Is this even legit?”
And I don’t blame you — this industry is full of so-called “marketing gurus” who are masters at selling hype… but not solar.
Although this may sound too good to be true, the results speak for themselves.
In fact, one of the largest solar companies in the U.S. awarded me as their top producer in Q3 2024 — thanks to this exact system.
#1 out of thousands of reps at a $50M-a-year company… all from behind my keyboard lol
But don’t take my word for it — check this out 👇

Commissions Closed
R.O.A.S.
What I’m about to share with you isn’t something I pulled out of thin air — it’s a hush-hush system that’s been used by the best advertisers in the world for literally hundreds of years.
However, making it work for solar in today’s world didn’t happen overnight.
It took years of learning, testing, tweaking and more failures than I can count… but it was all worth it.
The thing is, without this 4-step system in 2026, you’re toast.
You’ll struggle to succeed without it — and before long, you’ll start wondering if you’d be better off selling life insurance instead…
And if you’re thinking, “Why haven’t I heard of 'SolarCopilot OS' before?”
It’s because you’re being gaslit to believe that knocking 8+ hours a day is the best way to increase your solar sales rather than gaining the skills to get off the doors for good.
(Oops, I said the quiet part out loud)
Then again, most solar reps struggle with getting consistent and reliable lead flow, so why are you currently doing what they do?
Do you really want to keep knocking doors every single day?
Do you really want to rely on agencies for “exclusive” leads or appts?
Do you really want to buy lists of phone numbers to spend hours cold calling?
I didn’t.
It wasn’t until I went against the grain and learned how to make this system work for myself that I finally escaped the constant stress of worrying about where my next deal would come from.
And there’s absolutely nothing stopping you from doing the same.
The “OS” in SolarCopilot OS stands for Operating System — like the software running quitely in the background on your iPhone or MacBook.
SolarCopilot OS is a 4-step system that runs in the background of your solar business, bringing qualified homeowners to you online — day after day.
It's the same system that's helping regular solar reps to hit $100k+/mo from home — without knocking doors, cold calling or hiring agencies.
But before we break down the 4 steps inside SolarCopilot OS, there’s something you need to understand first…

Zero installs = zero money
Without all four steps working together in sync, the whole system breaks...
Because let’s be real for a second:
Leads don’t matter.
Appointments don’t matter.
Closed deals don’t matter.
The only thing that actually matters is glass hitting the roof — because that’s the moment we get paid.
And even then, the goal isn’t just getting panels on roofs.
The real win is creating happy customers who leave reviews, send referrals, and help us build a brand homeowners actually trust.
That’s how we stop chasing customers… and start hitting $100k+/mo from home on easy-mode.
And don't worry, I’m not gonna leave you hangin’.
I’m going to walk you through all four steps of the system, one by one.
The same system that let me close $429k+ in solar commissions without leaving my house…
And if you ever want to install SolarCopilot OS into your own solar business, you can always book a free 1:1 call with me here.

SolarCopilot OS (I drew this 🙂)
Here are the four steps inside SolarCopilot OS — the system that turns complete strangers into happy installs:
1. Attract
2. Qualify
3. Convert
4. Retain
Each step builds on the last, creating a compounding loop of momentum that gets stronger the longer it runs.
Let’s break down each step and how you can use them to finally get off the doors for good.
“Advertising is the only casino where, with enough skill, you become the house.”
– Alex Hormozi
If there’s one thing D2D reps can agree on, it’s this: people hate being sold to.
It’s not that they don’t want to buy — they just don’t want to feel like they’re being sold.
Especially not by some arrogant, Segway-riding 19-year-old rolling up to their house in khakis and a company polo.
This only leaves the homeowner standing in their doorway, already tuned out, thinking, “Oh great… another ‘not-a-sales-guy’ sales guy.”
In their mind, the conversation’s already over before it’s even begun.
That’s why the door slams faster than you can say, “We’re just in the area working with your neighbors on the power proj—”
*SLAM*

"Can you not read the damn sign on the door!?"
But don’t get it twisted — this isn’t just true for door-to-door…
It’s the exact same story for running ads online.
People hate ads.
Especially the ones on their Facebook newsfeed screaming, “Free Solar Panels!” or “The government is paying homeowners in Califor—”
*SCROLL*
The second it feels like a pitch, the homeowner’s trust evaporates — and so does your ad budget.
Because here’s the truth: when you’re running ads, you’re not paying for leads... you’re paying for attention.
And if you don’t know how to turn that attention into genuine interest that makes people want to buy your product or service — you might as well be lighting your money on fire.
So… how do you advertise to people who hate ads and can spot a pitch from a mile away?
That’s where the Attract step comes in — also known as the “Shadow Ad” Strategy.
But before I can explain what it is, you need to understand why it works — because once you do, everything else will click.

The 5 Stages of Market Awareness
Let me introduce you to one of the most important principles in marketing:
The 5 Stages of Market Awareness.
No matter what you sell, every single potential customer in your market lives somewhere inside one of these five stages:
1. Unaware – These people don’t even realize they have a problem. They’re just living life, paying the power bills, doing their thing.
2. Symptom Aware – Something feels “off,” but they can’t quite put their finger on it yet. “Honey, we’re gonna have to skip date night this week… money’s getting a little tight.”
3. Problem Aware – Now the lightbulb goes off. They’ve identified the real issue behind the symptoms. “Oh, the utility company keeps raising rates… that’s why we can’t afford to do as much anymore.”
4. Solution Aware – They’re now looking for ways to fix the problem. “I’ve heard solar could help, but I’m not sure if it’s worth it or how it really works.”
5. Brand Aware – They know solar is the solution. Now they’re just deciding which company to trust with the install.
Now you might be thinking, “Great, I’ll just target the people in stages 4 and 5 — the ones who are already ready to buy or close to it.”
But here’s the BIG problem…

90% of the solar market is completely untapped
That group makes up less than 10% of the total market.
And guess what?
Most solar reps and companies are fighting over that same tiny group of potential customers.
The result? Crazy expensive leads, cutthroat competition, and the same tired ads:
“Free Solar Quote!”
“Get Solar for $0 Down!”
It’s all noise to the homeowner who’s seen it a hundred times before.
So while everyone’s shouting at the same over-pitched crowd…
The other 90% of the market — the homeowners quietly scrolling past — get completely ignored.
But here’s what I discovered that nobody talks about…
That untapped 90% is where the real opportunity lives.
Because these people aren’t anti-solar… they just haven’t realized they need it yet.
But when you know how to meet them where they are and speak to the pain they feel instead of what you’re selling… you win their attention long before anyone else even tries to get it.
Remember this:
Attention = Profit
When you own the attention, you own the market (and in turn, make a lot of money).
That’s how, in the most saturated solar market in America — California — we closed nearly half a million in commissions in just 10 weeks (literally without breaking a sweat) while everyone else fought for scraps.
That’s the power of the “Shadow Ad” Strategy.
Let's break it down…

Attention is the new currency
The “Shadow Ad” Strategy is made up of two parts:
1. The Ad – in this case, a Facebook ad.
2. The Advertorial – a sales page in disguise that makes homeowners sell themselves on solar.
Let’s start with the ad.
First, let’s think about why people even open Facebook in the first place.
They’re not there to buy something — they’re there to scroll.
They want to see family photos, laugh at memes, catch up on headlines, or maybe pick up a quick tip or two.
That’s the vibe we want our ad to match.
It should blend in and feel like something they’d actually stop to read, not something that instantly triggers their “I’m being sold to” radar.
Because let’s be honest… nobody logs into Facebook thinking, “Man, I hope I see another solar ad today.”
Our ad only has three jobs:
1. Stop the scroll.
2. Attract our target audience.
3. Get the damn click.
That’s it.
Here’s an example ad from our campaign that nailed this:

This ad is responsible for $100k+ in closed deals
Notice how it doesn’t look like an ad?
It looks like an everyday story, but underneath, it’s engineered to tap into our target audience’s biggest frustrations.
That’s why it works.
And that’s why it sparks real engagement — likes, comments, shares — because it feels organic, not salesy.
That’s the game. Real attention, not forced clicks.
We are NOT trying to sell solar with the Facebook ad itself.
That’s like asking a homeowner to sign docs the second they open the door after a knock.
Wrong time, wrong place.
All we want is to get the right people intrigued enough to click into the second part of the “Shadow Ad” Strategy:
The Advertorial.
This is where the real magic happens…
Pro Tip: Benefit-Driven, News Headlines Crush
Headlines that promise a clear benefit and read like a news story outperform everything else. Remember: people don’t care about your company, your panels, or your offer… They only care about solving their problems. Speak to that, and you win the click.

David Ogilvy aka the 'Godfather of Modern Advertising'
“There is no law which says that advertisements have to look like advertisements. If you make them look like editorial pages, you will attract more readers.”
– David Oglivy
If you’ve never heard of an advertorial before, that’s okay.
It’s an old-school concept used by advertising legends like David Ogilvy.
The man behind iconic campaigns for Rolls-Royce, Dove, Guinness, Shell, and American Express that helped turn those brands into the global powerhouses they are today.
In short, an advertorial is a carefully crafted sales message disguised as an article (aka a "shadow ad")
Back in the day, these undercover sales pages were printed inside newspapers and magazines, blending right in with everyday articles that readers were already consuming.
These days, Facebook is the new newspaper — but the psychology behind it hasn’t changed one bit.
We still use the same strategy: blending these "shadow ads" seamlessly into the scroll so they feel like everyday posts, not ads.

An actual "shadow ad" that ran for Rolls-Royce
It looks like content.
It reads like content.
But it quietly builds genuine interest in our product or service as the reader moves through it.
Kinda like the one you’re reading right now... 😉
“Unfortunately, no one can be told what the Matrix is. You have to see it for yourself.”
– Morpheus, The Matrix
Our advertorial only has 4 jobs:
1. Agitate their pain.
2. Introduce the problem.
3. Tease the solution.
4. Get the damn click.
That’s it.
Its entire purpose is to guide homeowners through the five stages of awareness we talked about earlier — from unaware to ready-to-buy — all without them ever realizing it.
Hence the name: The “Shadow Ad” Strategy.
That’s what makes it so powerful.
It avoids the 10% of homeowners that every other solar rep and company is fighting tooth-and-nail for.
And instead, it educates, tells stories, and builds trust with the other 90% of homeowners who didn’t even realize they needed solar until they finish reading.
It’s exactly how we stopped chasing customers… and started attracting them.

What would 736 leads do for you?
When done right, advertorials effortlessly turn complete strangers into genuinely interested prospects who want to learn more about solar before we ever speak to them.
So why not take what you’re already great at on the doors — using your words to influence, educate, and build trust — and apply it online?
Just a thought…
Now, I’m not going to break down my full formula for writing a killer advertorial in this case study… but if you want one created for yourself, book a free 1:1 call with me here.
Pro Tip: Speak To The Individual
Don’t speak to your readers as though they’re gathered together in a crowd. When people read your copy, they are alone. Pretend you are writing to each of them personally. One human being to another.
So the homeowner has clicked our ad and read through the advertorial.
Now it’s time to guide them to the next step in a way that feels natural and stress-free.
Step 2 of SolarCopilot OS is where we turn interest into qualified leads…

This simple call-to-action absolutely crushes
“This accidental discovery showed me how getting leads actually works… you have to give people something they want. The best part is — it’s easier than you think.”
– Alex Hormozi
At this stage, the homeowner is completely hooked...
They’re thinking things like:
“How much can I actually save with solar?”
“What would solar look like on my house?”
“Do I even qualify for solar?”
We’ve got their attention. Now we need their info so we can contact them.
But here’s the problem: a traditional lead form will kill the momentum instantly.
People see a dull form and think, “Nope, not doing this.”
We need a way to collect their details without scaring them off.
And once I discovered this little trick, it changed everything…
Enter the Free Solar Qualification Quiz.
This isn’t just a quiz — it’s a quiet engine running in the background, filling our pipeline with the kind of leads every solar rep dreams about.
Towards the bottom of our advertorial, we have a simple call-to-action:
"See if my home qualifies"
And that button takes them directly to the quiz.
Because let’s face it: nobody wants to “get a quote.”
But a quiz that shows them if they qualify to save with solar? That feels safe.
It’s a subtle way for interested homeowners to show that they’re ready to move forward without ever feeling pressured.
Here’s a little glimpse of what our quiz looks like:

Fun quizzes > Boring lead forms
No boring lead forms here.
Just a fun, simple quiz that homeowners actually want to complete.
And while they’re enjoying the experience, we’re quietly collecting their info without triggering any alarms.
So for the love of God — ditch the lead forms.
If I catch you using one, I’m grabbing my belt...
Lead forms make people feel trapped and bored. Quizzes make them feel excited and in control.
Same end result (qualified lead data), completely different emotional experiences for the homeowner.
And here’s the kicker: our quiz automatically filters out renters, bad credits, apartments, and other unqualified leads so we never waste our time chasing non-buyers.
More leads. Cheaper costs. Better quality. Win-win-win.
I’m not going to share all of the quiz steps here, but if you’d like to copy-and-paste the exact same one we use, you can book a free 1:1 call with me here.
But remember, leads don't matter at the end of the day…
Thankfully, Step 3 of SolarCopilot OS shows you how we take these qualified leads and turn them into closed deals on easy-mode.
Get it wrong, and all you have is a list of names.
Get it right, and you’re cashing checks.
Pro Tip: Only Collect Real Phone Numbers
At the end of your quiz, have people verify their phone numbers with a SMS code. Our tests showed that lead costs barely increased, but we completely eliminated fake numbers altogether. This will save you more time than you can imagine.
At this point, we have the homeowner’s:
First & last name
Phone number
Home address
Utility company
Est. monthly electric bill
Home type
Est. credit score
... and more
We’ve got all the info we need… so how do we turn this data into deals?

The make-shift home of a family in Ensenada, MX
In October 2024, I went on a mission trip to Mexico with a couple dozen members from church to build a home for a family in need and in doing so, I learned a valuable lesson…
We built the home for a single mother and her three children who had been living in a makeshift shack of plywood and dirt floors.
She was earning less than $100 a week — barely enough to survive, let alone move her family out of that situation.
When the home was finished (all glory to God), she was overwhelmed with so much gratitude that she gave us each the only thing she could — a cold cup of Coca-Cola.
That moment hit me.
She had received something life-changing, and even though nobody asked for anything in return, she was compelled to give something back.
I was experiencing the Law of Reciprocity in real-time.
“The basis of social relationships is reciprocity: if you cooperate with others, others will cooperate with you.”
– Carroll Quigley
The Law of Reciprocity is simple: people tend to return the favor to those who give to them first.
But in the solar industry? Most reps have it completely backwards.
They’re always asking potential customers for something:
“Submit to get a quote.”
“Send me your bill.”
“Schedule an appointment.”
No value added first.
No trust built.
Just noise.
And then they wonder why their calendars look like a ghost town.
While ours?
They stay nice and chunky:

A snapshot from one of our sales reps' calendar (dark green events are appointments)
Here’s how we do it…
Once we have the homeowner’s info, the last thing we do is sell them on solar.
Sounds crazy, right?
But think about it — the biggest fear homeowners have after giving out their info is someone blowing up their phone trying to sell them something.
So we flip the script.
Instead of hitting them up and pushing for an “appointment,” we deliver value first with a Free Home Solar Design.
Understanding this concept skyrocketed our lead-to-appointment conversion rate.
Here’s why it’s so effective:
1. It builds trust
Offering something free and valuable FIRST shows that we’re here to serve, not sell.
(Shocking concept, I know.)
When people feel you’re genuinely helping them, they trust you faster — and people buy from people they trust.
2. It warms them up — without feeling salesy
When homeowners see a design on their own roof, they start to imagine what life would look like after solar — no more crazy bills, no rate hikes, no uncertainty, etc.
The clearer they can imagine solar as a solution, the closer they get toward actually saying "yes" to solar.
3. It opens a curiosity loop
We keep the solar design intentionally simple and vague.
We only share:
A roof image with panels
System size
Energy offset
Upfront cost ($0)
Estimated monthly savings range (Ex: 30-50%)

Literally just take a screenshot of the design
That’s it.
It’s just enough to intrigue — not too much to overwhelm.
They start thinking:
“Woah, this is cool… how much would I actually save?”
And the only way for them to find that out is through a Free Online Home Solar Review (aka an “appointment”).
(Side note: we never call it an “appointment.” Ever.)
Again — we are NOT trying to sell solar here.
We're just inching them closer to a sales conversation — without feeling pushy.
When it’s time to transition from design to review (lead to appointment), we keep it simple:
The next step is a quick 15-30 minute Zoom call with [closer's first name], our solar expert. He will be able to go over your complete solar report, show you how much you can save down to the penny, and answer any questions that you have.
We have a few openings this week, one on Monday (9/24) at 5 pm PST and then another on Tuesday (9/25) at 11 am PST. Would either of these times work for you?
Notice the wording — it’s not a pitch.
It’s an invitation to get more value.
I know it may seem too simple, but it works.
Here’s why…

Stack. The. Deck.
Let’s think about the groundwork we’ve already laid:
We agitated their pain (money stress, high bills, etc).
We exposed the problem (the utility company).
We teased the solution (solar) and how it can solve their problems.
We provided real value (the Free Home Solar Design).
By the time we offer the Free Online Home Solar Review (the “appointment”) — trust, curiosity, and desire are already built in.
We’ve been stacking the deck in our favor this entire time…
All we have to do is guide them.
That’s the power of the Law of Reciprocity.
If you play the long game, you’ll make more money — because most aren’t willing to.
But here’s the reality:
Most leads won’t reply or schedule an appointment on the first try.
According to Salesforce, over 80% of sales happen after five or more follow-ups.
Yet nearly 44% of salespeople give up after the first follow-up.
Don’t let that be you.
That’s why having a follow-up system to plug every hole where leads could drop off is one of the most important steps in the entire system.
Pro Tip: Follow Up Determines Your R.O.I.
You’ve probably heard it a thousand times: “Fortune’s in the follow-up.” But it’s true — most deals happen after multiple touchpoints, not the first contact.
The key is having a simple follow up system that blends automation (for consistency) with human touch (for connection) across SMS, phone call and email. Your commitment to follow up will make or break your R.O.I. — simple as that. You don’t have a lead problem. You have a follow-up problem.
I’m not going to go into full detail about our follow-up system here, but if you’d like the exact one we use for yourself, you can book a free 1:1 call with me here.
We simply mapped out the perfect customer journey, identified every point where a lead could fall off track, and put follow-up systems in place to prevent it:

A small section from our "No-Show" follow-up sequence (built for no-show appts)
And if the immediate follow-up sequences don’t get a response, we drop them into a long-term nurture campaign.
They’ll receive 1–2 short, helpful emails per week — stories, customer wins, solar tips — all ending with something like this:
P.S.
Whenever you’re ready, here are three ways I can help you:
Way #1 - Read this homeowner’s case study
Way #2 - Text me questions at [phone number]
Way #3 - Schedule a free online home solar review
No pressure. Just consistent, valuable content.
The homeowners who are eventually ready to take the next step forward — will.
Because here’s the thing: follow-up doesn’t annoy people when it’s rooted in service.
Now, a quick word on closing...
Spoiler: I’m not going to teach you how to close in this case study.
Honestly, you’re probably a better closer than I am…
If you’ve been reading this hoping for some new closing trick, you’ve lost the plot.
(And there are people far more qualified than me to teach that.)
However, if you follow Step 3 as I’ve laid out, you will have more sales conversations with homeowners.
And when you do it right, your prospects won’t feel “sold” — they’ll feel served. Just like this homeowner 👇

"You guys are refreshing..."
The actual closing part? That’s on you, homie.
But here’s one thing I’ll leave you with: Never end the call without planting a seed.
After closing the deal — before hanging up, I (or one my closers) will say something like:
By the way, keep an eye on your mailbox. I’ll be sending you something special in the next couple of days. When you get it, I’d love to hear your thoughts.
That one line primes them perfectly for what’s coming next.
Because a closed deal doesn’t mean the job is finished.
In fact, it’s just the beginning.
That’s why the final step of SolarCopilot OS is the most important step of all.
It’s how we take what most reps consider “the end” — a closed deal — and turn it into something much bigger: more installs, glowing reviews, and steady referrals (all on autopilot).
Let's get into it...
Pro Tip: The 5-Minute Rule
According to Harvard Business Review, responding within five minutes increases your odds of contacting leads by 900%. (Yes, 900%. Not a typo.)
The best way to ensure that happens is with automation. Humans forget — automation doesn’t. We have a personalized text sent automatically within five minutes of receiving their info — this small tweak caused our contact rate to jump through the roof.
“The wise man does not hoard. The more he helps others, the more he benefits himself; The more he gives to others, the more he gets himself.”
– Lao Tzu
By this point, you’ve done the hard work.
You’ve earned the trust of complete strangers and have guided them all the way to signing docs.
But as Kobe Bryant once said: “What’s there to be happy about? Job’s not finished.”
Because until glass hits the roof, nobody’s getting paid.
And this is where most reps fall short.
That’s why the final step of SolarCopilot OS is all about retention.
Not just to make sure deals install — but to turn each customer into a raving fan who leaves reviews, sends referrals, and helps build our brand for us.
We do this by making the post-close experience so unexpectedly good that they can’t help but stick around and talk about it.
Let's break down how we do this...

Ashton Buswell sharing his $2.00 letter secret
Back in 2017, when I was with LGCY, I met Ashton Buswell — a monster closer who taught me something I still use today.
Something that would later make me hundreds of thousands of dollars…
He showed me how powerful a simple, intentional gesture could be after closing a deal — and how it could directly impact my install rate.
It’s what I now call The $2.00 Letter — and it’s the first step we take toward delivering an unforgettable customer experience.
Here's how it works:
After running our appointments for the day, we send a handwritten thank-you card to every customer we closed — sealed with a $2.00 bill and a business card inside.
Yes, it's old-school... but it works like crazy.
Here’s the template we use:
Dear [first name],
I want to thank you for spending time with me the other day and also want to thank you for not ending our call when you saw my ugly mug! (haha)
I look forward to speaking with you soon and am confident that if you ultimately decide to enroll with us, you’ll not only have a great customer experience, but you’ll save a lot more $2.00 bills in the years to come!
Life is wonderful,
[closer’s full name]
— Business Card
— $2.00 Bill
Handwritten letters are almost extinct in today’s chronically-online world — which is exactly why they stand out.
Pairing a personalized letter with a $2.00 bill instantly breaks the pattern, makes a lasting impression, and makes the customer feel genuinely valued.
Each letter takes less than two minutes to write and seal — but the social and financial return is priceless.
The more we “wow” our customers, the stickier every deal becomes.
And we don’t stop here...
Pro Tip: Control The Narrative With Consistent Updates
One of the biggest mistakes I see solar reps make after closing a deal? Silence. When customers don’t hear from you, they start making up stories in their heads:
“Did I just get scammed?"
"Is something wrong?”
It’s human nature — when there’s no communication, people fill in the blanks with fear. Don’t let silence do the talking.
That’s why we send weekly updates like clockwork. Even if there’s nothing major to report, we let them know briefly what’s happening behind the scenes. It takes 30 seconds, but it eliminates anxiety and keeps trust high. (Plus, automation makes this super easy.)
After the customer’s system is installed, we surprise them with a gift package that's automatically shipped to their home.
Here's what we include in the Install Gift:

Install Gift
If the $2.00 letter and consistent updates didn’t already win them over, this is usually where things click.
I mean, who doesn’t love brownies, a free mug, and a cheesy dad joke card?
Even if you’re not a fan of dad jokes, your customers are:

"Sunny side up!" Get it...? (Homeowners absolutely eat this card up)
Here’s where things get fun…
A day or so after the gift arrives, we follow up with a simple message:
Hey [first name], just wanted to make sure you got our gift?
When they reply (and they almost always do), they usually mention how much they appreciated it.
That’s our cue.
Right there in that moment — while the gratitude is fresh — we ask for the review.
Remember the Law of Reciprocity?
Give. Give. Give. Then ask.
At this stage, most customers are more than happy to leave a positive review.
This is how we start building a brand homeowners flock to.
And even if you’re an individual sales rep, you can still build your own brand:

Individual sales rep building a solar personal brand
Here’s an example of Daniel from Vegas (no affiliation).
He’s built a strong personal brand in solar by getting homeowners to leave him personal reviews.
This is powerful for two reasons:
1. It’s an asset
Daniel is building something that will serve him for years. If he changes companies, his personal brand goes with him.
2. It builds social proof
When homeowners see dozens of five-star reviews and photos of happy customers — the battle’s half won before the conversation is ever started.
Be like Daniel.
Because the numbers don’t lie:
88% of people trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations.
But if you stop here, you are leaving so much money on the table…
Because the next step is the single easiest way to turn one deal into two (or three, etc).
“Compound interest is the 8th wonder of the world. He who understands it, earns it … he who doesn’t, pays it.”
– Albert Einstein
That’s why we close every project with the PTO Gift.
It’s the cherry on top of the entire customer experience that cements the relationship.
Here’s what we include:

PTO Gift
This gift reminds customers of the entire journey:
The $2.00 letter.
The weekly updates.
The install gift.
And now, one final surprise they didn’t see coming.
Dropping $50 on a thoughtful gift might sound like a lot, but when it turns one customer into multiple referrals, it pays for itself tenfold.

The punchline is "You give me a spark!"... How funny.
A few days after it’s delivered, we reach out again:
Hey [first name], just wanted to make sure you got our gift to celebrate your PTO?
They reply — grateful and excited.
Right at that moment, we ask if they know anyone who’d like to pay less for power (aka referrals).
It’s simple. It’s genuine. And it works consistently.
Because by now, we’ve built trust through multiple touchpoints and created emotional anchors that make them want to return the favor.
So they’re confident sending friends and family our way because of the seamless, enjoyable experience we’ve delivered from start to finish.
That’s when our R.O.I. starts to multiply even more.
Because retention isn’t just about avoiding cancellations…
It’s about crafting such an unforgettable experience that your customers can’t stop talking about you.
Every text. Every call. Every small gesture adds up.
Because when people feel seen, valued, and taken care of…
They don’t just install — they tell everyone they know.
That’s how one install becomes ten.
And this is when we begin to experience one of the most powerful forces in the world…
The Flywheel Effect.

The SolarCopilot OS Flywheel
A flywheel is a system that powers itself and gets stronger the more you use it.
Each step feeds into the next, creating a compounding loop of growth that builds over time.
That’s exactly what SolarCopilot OS is — a self-reinforcing system that produces bigger results the longer you run it:
Our ads generate leads.
Our leads turn into deals.
Our deals turn into installs (and referrals).
And our installs produce more reviews, social proof, and adspend to scale our ads even further so we can repeat the loop again...
Round and round it goes — getting stronger with every loop around.
The more we feed the system, the more it produces.
It’s the exact system that took me from a burned-out D2D rep knocking 40 hours a week… to closing $429k+ in solar commissions in 10 weeks from home — without knocking a single door.
And how you can turn every $1.00 in adspend into $5.00+ in solar install commission — practically on autopilot.
But I know what you might be thinking...
Absolutely!
I’m not speaking from theory… I’m speaking from experience.
Here’s a reminder: $429k+ in solar commissions closed. 10 weeks. 1 system.
And the best part? It’s not just a “me” thing.
Solar reps all across the country are seeing similar results when they plug this simple 4-step system into their own solar business.

Would you like this same 4-step system installed into your own solar business?
If so, I've created a DFY service where my team and I set up this exact system inside your business for you.
You’ll also get access to our pre-built tools, SOPs, and other resources — but you won’t need to figure anything out. We install everything and run it for you.
By the end, you’ll have a system in place that allows you to scale to $100k+/mo consistently from home — without D2D, or cold calling.
But what you’re really getting goes far beyond a predictable flow of deals in your pipeline…

Money + Time + Location = Happiness
You’re gaining control.
You’re gaining confidence.
And you’re finally getting the financial, time, and locational freedom you’ve been chasing since you got into solar.
All you need to do is sit back while we deploy our 4-step system and start sending qualified homeowners to you so you can scale your income, reclaim your time, and work wherever you want.

P.S.
I can’t offer this done-for-you service to everyone...
I take pride in giving my clients the absolute best experience possible, and I can only do that for a limited number of people at a time.
That’s why I only accept 1 client per territory.
It’s the only way I can maintain the highest level of service, focus, and personal attention for solar rep we work with.
I make that same promise to you, just like I’ve made it to every client before.
And for that reason, once a territory is filled, enrollment closes. No exceptions.
So don’t wait to partner with me in building an insanely profitable remote solar career you actually love.
But if you’d rather stay stuck on the “solar coaster,” I can’t stop you…
If you’d prefer to keep grinding on the doors, missing sales goals, and sacrificing precious time with your family — again, I can’t stop you from doing that.
But what I can do is help you scale to $100k+/mo from home — without knocking doors, cold calling ever again.
If that sounds like the better path, click here to book your free 1:1 demo call with me now.
